No Audio on EZCap Video Capture – Windows 7 / Windows 8

There are quite a few blog posts on this one but also a lot of mis-information out there, I’ve even seen one forum that suggests the EZCAP is incompatible with Windows 7 and that the ‘missing audio’ issue cannot be fixed, this is incorrect.

The actual fix is to change the default audio driver device that is associated with the EZCAP USB sound.

To start install the EZCAP driver and software from the disk supplied with the unit.
Test your device and select to use the USB audio device.

If the video works but the audio doesn’t then you will probably need to do the following…

img0011. Right Click Computer and left click Properties

2. Click on Device Manager

img003Look in the Sound, Video section and find USB EMP Audio Device

Right click on it and select Update Driver Software

Select Browse My Computer for driver software

img006Select Let Me Pick from a List

img007Click the ‘Show compatible hardware’

Click on USB Audio device instead of USB EMP Audio device.

All being well you should now find the audio works.

Note: Not sure if this is the same with Vista and Windows 8. I suspect it is but I haven’t tested it.
