How to find the web link (URL) for a Joomla Page

The process it self is fairly straight forward.
The link you need to create is:

index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=xx

Where xx is the article number in Joomla.

So the full process would be:

  • First create your new article in Joomla
  • View your Article in your article manager and note the last column (ID)
    joomla article number
This number if the ID number of the article itself. When you create a menu link this is read and converted to an actual textual link but we need to do things differently for an article that isn’t going to be linked on a menu.
  • Note down the ID number for your article (e.g.; in the example ‘Dress Code and Course Etiquette’ is ID 26)

Using this ‘Dress Code’ page as an example the link from the menu bar is:

http://www.mysite.co.uk/index.php/club-etiquette

But you can also get it directly by entering the following URL in your browser

http://www.mysite.co.uk/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=26

Using this technique you can add a direct link to any of your Joomla articles.

Happy coding
