There are many ways to add links to social media sites on your web site or email. This method is a quick and easy way to place a linked icon that drives people to your social media page on Facebook, Twitter, WordPress and/or Linked In.
The method will use a standard jpg file for the link icon and the html (web page) reference for your social media account.
Here are four icons that can be downloaded and used for your webpage or email links. Just right click on these and ‘save image as’ to your PC.
You can resize these to fit your page or need. All are in line with the requirements laid down by the individual social media company.
The next thing that you need is the html reference for your page, account or site.
Here’s the quick and basic method for each>
Login to your Twitter account
Click on View my profile page
At the top of the browser you will now see your direct link to your Twitter profile.
Copy this link (or write it down)
In the example below you can see that my page is https://twitter.com/litespc
Login to Facebook
For a personal profile (rather than a business page)
Click on your name at the top right of the Facebook page
(note: do not click Edit Profile –you need to click on your actual name)
At the top right of your browser you will now see your Facebook web address.
Copy this or write it down.
For a business page (rather than a personal profile)
After logging in to your personal Facebook profile, click on the cog and select the business page that you want to reference
When the business page has loaded click on edit Page
Then click on Update Page Info
Your page address is shown in the second line of your page info summary
Copy this or write it down
Login to Linked In
Click on Profile – Edit Profile
Your public web address for Linked In is shown under your image.
Copy it or write it down.
Easiest of the lot.
Click on your WordPress page
Your page is shown in your browser window.
Once you have the links then you can insert the icon images onto your web page in your chosen web editing tool, or into an email, and then add a hyperlink using the information you gathered above.
There are other ways to add links to your social media accounts and pages but this is a quick and simple addition for many.
