Search for copyright free / royalty free images using Google

Many people are not aware that it is illegal to download and/or copy copyright protected images from the internet for commercial use. Further, the vast majority of images used online are under some form of copyright protection.

What is not so well known is that you can use Google Image Search to find images that are free to use in your own work and marketing.

To do this…

  • Enter your search term and click on Images
  • Click Search Tools

  • Click on Usage Tools
  • Click the type of use required

  • The page will refresh with these settings and the images you see will be useable as defined by the type of license selected.

Another useful filter is to click the More Tools and to select Sizes. The size of the image will now be shown under the thumbnail.
