Add often used documents to Quick Access in Office

Most of us will have a number of documents that we use regularly to update/amend. Office provides a way of opening these quickly from the File menu. Here’s how (this is that same process for the entire Office suite although Excel is being used here).

  • Open the application required and click on File
  • Click on the Recent tab
  • Locate the document that you want to Quick Access and then click the small pin to the right of it to bring it to the top of the list

At the bottom of the right panel you will see a Quick Access check box and the number of documents that you want to show from the pinned list

  • Tick the box and enter a number or leave as the default 4 (I chose 2)

The File option will now show an open option for the documents at the top of your Recent list (number shown depending on the number you chose above)

  • To Open one of those documents click on it
